Google Doodle Cheers on ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Kickoff Celebration!

The opening match of the World Cup will take place today, between England, the reigning champion, and New Zealand.

Google released an animated doodle on Thursday to commemorate the start of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) World Cup 2023, which will get underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 2:00 p.m.

Two ducks are shown in the doodle sprinting between the wickets while spectators watch from the background. The user can access the entire tournament’s schedule by clicking on the doodle on the Google homepage.

The World Cup is one of the most important, watched, and well-liked one-day international (ODI) cricket matches worldwide. It is held every four years. Ten teams play in the competition to win the coveted cup. India is set to host the showpiece competition this year, marking the 13th time since it began in 1975. The opening match of the World Cup will take place today, between England, the reigning champion, and New Zealand.

In the group stage, 45 matches will be contested, with every side playing every other team once. The tournament will be held this year with participation from Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. There will be just four clubs who advance to the knockout stage, which includes one cup final and two semi-final games in Ahmedabad.

In the meanwhile, increased security has been implemented in all of the cities Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Dharamsala, and Pune that are hosting the matches.

In the Motera neighborhood of Ahmedabad and at Narendra Modi Stadium, around 3,500 police officers will be stationed during the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup on October 5. Chirag Koradia, the Joint Commissioner of Police for Sector 1, stated on Wednesday that multiple layers of protection are being implemented.

“On Thursday during the cricket match, up to 16 IPS officials will be on the pitch overseeing our security setup. “The World Cup matches that are played at the Narendra Modi stadium will also feature the same security setup, which consists of multiple layers,” he declared.

In addition, the traffic police have issued a notification barring vehicle movement on the route leading to the stadium from the BRTS intersection from 11 am to midnight ahead of the opening match and the remaining four games to be played in Ahmedabad.
