Anurag Thakur’s announcement

I’m delighted to announce that Michael Douglas, the distinguished Hollywood actor and producer, will receive the prestigious Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the 54th International Film Festival Goa, wrote the I&B Minister on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. He is well renowned for having a strong affection for our nation, 🇮🇳, and we are excited to have him, along with Catherine Zeta-Jones and their son, at the most prestigious Film Festival in South Asia, #IFFI54, to represent our distinctive traditions and rich cinematic culture! Greetings from Bharat and @IFFIGoa,

When Michael attended the Indian Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, he was actually invited to IFFI. His invitation came from L Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, who stated at the time, “We are holding our film festival in Goa from November 20 to November 28.” Welcome to the 54th edition. I look forward to having you come to our event with your whole family. To Goa, we shall introduce our customs, variety, culture, languages, and culinary traditions.

Michael Douglas and India

Michael, 79, is frequently spotted traveling to and from India with his spouse, 54-year-old actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. During the Cannes Film Festival, Michael mentioned that he and Catherine would like to spend their next vacation exploring South India.

Racing the Monsoon was planned to be Michael and Shailendra Singh’s Indian-set movie. However logistical issues caused the movie to fail. But last year in Mumbai, he and Catherine made an appearance in Shailendra’s documentary Unplugged.

This year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a Marvel movie starring Peyton Reed, was Michael’s last appearance. The next role he will play is that of co-star in Roberto Sneider’s Blood Knot, alongside his son Cameron Douglas.
