Tamil Actor-Director G Mariamuthu Passes Away at the Age of 57
On Friday, the well-known Tamil actor and director G Mariamuthu, who was recently seen in Rajnikanth’s blockbuster movie ‘Jailer,’ breathed his last. He was approximately fifty years old.
G Mariamuthu suffered a heart attack, which led to his demise. He had recently appeared in the Tamil television series “Ethir Neechal.” Film industry analyst and insider Ramesh Bala confirmed this news on Friday, stating that G Mariamuthu was 57 years old. He was known for his role in the Tamil TV series ‘Ethir Neechal’ and had also worked as an assistant director alongside filmmaker Mani Ratnam and others.

Mariamuthu was taken to the hospital
Reportedly, G Mariamuthu collapsed around 8:30 AM on Friday while dubbing for his Tamil television series ‘Ethir Neechal’ in Chennai. In response to chest pain, Johnson, a public relations specialist in the South Indian film business, tweeted that he had been taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Actress Radhika Sarathkumar expressed her condolences on Twitter, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of Mariamuthu’s demise, a talented individual who worked with us.
Saddened to read about the tragic loss of multitalented actor Mariamuthu,” a fan wrote on Twitter. His recent blockbuster film was ‘Jailer.’ He was a superstar on both big and small screens in our industry. A tremendous loss for our industry. May his soul rest in peace.”
Who Was G Mariamuthu?
According to a report by One India, G Mariamuthu worked in more than 50 films, apart from directing films and acting in TV shows. In 1990, he left his hometown Pasumalaithytheri in Theni, and moved to Chennai with dreams of becoming a film director.
Initially, he worked as a waiter in hotels, but soon he met lyricist Vairamuthu, and eventually, he became an assistant director, working with prominent directors like Rajkiran in “Aranmanai Kil.” Mariamuthu continued his career as an assistant director, collaborating with famous filmmakers like Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and S.J. Surya. He also worked as a co-director in Silambarasan’s “Manmadhan.”
