Mbappe Sparks PSG Victory in Champions League Opener vs. Dortmund

Kylian Mbappe Secures PSG’s Champions League Opener Victory with Penalty Goal Against Dortmund”

Kylian Mbappe took control with a shot controlled by Nicholas Sule after 49 minutes, and he scored a goal from the penalty spot.

PSG doubled their lead when Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi teamed up well with midfielder Vittinha, doubling the home team’s advantage.

The French team is in Group F with Newcastle and AC Milan.

PSG had most of the possession and opportunities, but Dortmund frustrated them for much of the match, especially in the first half.

In the opening 45 minutes, Vittinha came closest, hitting the post with an 18-yard shot, while Randall Kolo Muani attempted an overhead kick from the edge of the box.

PSG felt they should have had a penalty just before the break when a corner struck Sule’s hand, but after a VAR review, no penalty was given – though the decision went in their favor in the second half.

Mbappe’s shot hit Sule’s hand from close range, confirming the on-field penalty. Mbappe took the spot-kick himself and beat goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to the bottom right corner.

PSG secured a convincing three points well before the final whistle, with Vittinha playing a perfect backheel for Hakimi to score.

Hakimi cut his boot both inside and outside against his former club and declined to celebrate afterward.

This ensured a winning start in the Champions League for manager Luis Enrique in his first game in charge of the French champions.
